SOFTWARE: Anime Studio

02.01.07 | Comment?

Okay, I don’t blog much. I still believe that opinions are best left unsaid, especially if you have no experience in the subject at hand.

I do plan to more blogging in the future, just as an exercise in writing. So, if you see an opinion on here you don’t agree with, you’re free to disagree. That’s what I love about America, the Internets and free speech. You can say what you want, when you want and ignore the rest if you want. There’s good and bad in both, but that’s what freedoms are about. Choice.

That being said…what have I been up to? Just work, school, and my latest: Anime Studio! Here’s a mini-review (of sorts):

I’ve doing some minor animation, you’ve seen me post some on my website. And don’t get me wrong, I love using Poser (the newest one, version 7, is out, but I don’t see a real immediate need to upgrade yet. Like Vista!) but when it comes to 3D art, its hard to interpret what I draw into 3D. And animating still images- I can’t keyframe worth a darn. That’s where Anime Studio comes in!

Anime Studio is a great little animator for amateurs. Its not a full fledged animation studio, but its great for what it does. You can import images, create keyframes, even sync dialogue.

But the selling point of this software for me: bones! There’s a rudimentary bone system that allows you animate static images. It’s nothing major, but it does its job well.

Having play with this over a weekend, I think I’ve only scratched the surface of what its capable of. I can’t wait to get some extended free time to play with Anime Studio.
