To take the stress off of writing so many papers, I’ve gone back to painting Christmas ornaments. Every time I start one that I think I’m going to like, it always turns out better than I expect (except for one nightmare snowman, but we won’t mention that one…) Anyways, here’s a few highlights. Enjoy!
This is my first attempt at a fairy. This sketch is based on a request of a friend of mine. It’s not quite done; I plan to add some color later. This also won’t be my first attempt at this since I’m just getting back into the habit of pencil and ink. As far as fairies go, I think I’m happy with the result. I may do a more “cartoony” one next.
I started this out to get the stress off a major homework assignment. It worked, and now I’m trying to get back into my “creative zone”. This is a simple model, but the complexity lies in how much detail you can put into it in its “post production” phase. It’s not perfect, but I’m pretty happy with the end results.
You may notice a speeder bike model box in the background of one of these. I’m currently working on that one, but once again it’s on hold as a I struggle through my current class.
I’m also considering going back into drawing during this semester since the prep time and there is less mess to clean up. It shouldn’t be too much of a stretch.
I know I haven’t done much here in a while, and for good reason. This year my life has, or will be, going through a few upheavals. Emotionally my heart really isn’t in it anymore, so I won’t be working on any new pieces any time soon. Mentally I’m exhausted, and my creative spark has been snuffed out for the time being. Until I get heart, mind and soul aligned, I won’t be doing much creative work.
I mentioned upheavals in my life. One is personal and this is not the forum to talk about it in. Another involves a huge shift in my life, which I am determined to get completed by the end of the year, God willing. To end on a high note, the last thing involves me going back to school, which, although intimidating, is also incredibly exciting at the same time.
So, where does it leave my art? …on the backburner, unfortunately. GUARDZ will have to wait, art will have to wait, everything will have to wait, until I can get the rest of me back in order. It probably won’t happen for a long while, but it’s best if I just take it step by step and see where the future leads me.
This afternoon we decided to take some pictures of this historic 2010 snowfall. At last count, the snowfall reached 2 feet locally. Although it looks pretty, this one is going to difficult to dig out of, at least for a few weeks.
And of course, pictures!
